JOB CLASSIFICATION: Student Hire
SKILL CLASSIFICATION: Maintenance and Custodial Services
NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB: To assist the Maintenance department in maintaining facility grounds in a condition of operating excellence to ensure full use and safe operation at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrate consistent punctuality and regular attendance, with maintenance of facilities and equipment as the number one priority.
- Demonstrate appropriate safety precautions.
- Adhere to local, state, federal and other regulatory agencies, standards, codes and laws.
- Adhere to established district policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; creating work orders, tracking and inputting work hours and jobs performed in the district maintenance management system.
- Appropriate, professional dress for job duties and performing duties in the presence of children and staff.
- Attend department staff meetings as required.
- Work cooperatively with other district employees, the general public, and students.
- Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; monitor own work to ensure quality.
- Other duties as assigned by Lead Maintenance or Superintendent

- Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
- Demonstrated positive speech skills (enunciation and clarity)
- Ability to think clearly and calculate accurately
- Ability to work with people of various personality types (flexibility)
- Possess and demonstrate sound emotional judgment
- Effective organizational skills.
- Ability to follow and successfully complete written and oral directions
- Ability to observe or monitor objects and people’s behavior to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards.
- Demonstrate initiative and ability to evaluate situations requiring action
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lower body strength to kneel, stand, and walk throughout the workday.
- Ability to remain in a standing, sitting or kneeling position for extended periods of time.
- Upper body strength to correctly lift a minimum of 80 pounds and carry more than 100 feet.
- Verbal stamina to articulate clearly and with appropriate volume throughout the workday.
- Auditory discrimination sufficient to receive detailed information through normal speech at 5 feet and warning cries or alarms normal speech levels.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Exposure to weather extremes.
- Occasional exposure to loud noises.
- Some work to be accomplished in small or cramped spaces
- Variable hours depending upon facility needs

- Other maintenance related equipment acquired by the District
EDUCATION, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:
- Nenana high school student in good academic standing.
